Dune

Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence, only those who can conquer their own fear will survive.

In 1984 the first successful adaption of Dune to the silver screen, if you could call it that. The movie missed all the major plot points and political aspects of the book, making the final product very confusing to watch and an all round mess of a movie.
Now, almost forty years later, someone has finally figured out the key to making a good Dune movie, don’t make one, make two. With two movies, they have all the run time they need  to include all the important plot points they missed from the old movie.

Pros:
There aren’t many movies that I find truly suspenseful. Dune had me holding onto my chair as if my life depended on it.

Cons:
As you can tell, I liked the movie, but it would be nice if Hollywood made something original, or even just adapted a different science fiction novel to the big screen.
